Dennis Ross seriously assaulted his victim in a prolonged attack in his home. Over a number of days he beat and strangled leaving her in a coma with life threatening injuries. She was taken to hospital where she remained in a unconscious for a number of weeks. Today he appeared at Cardiff Crown Court where he was sentenced to life in prison. He will not be eligible for to apply for parole until he has served at least 7 years and 140 days. DC Elaine Newbury said: “We are pleased with the sentence handed down today which reflects the seriousness of the offence. Ross put his victim through a sustained and prolonged attack which resulted in significant and serious physical injuries, whilst having a profound impact on the victim’s emotional well-being. He has shown no remorse for this. I hope this sends the message that domestic violence will not be tolerated; we take offences of this nature extremely seriously. Anyone wanting to report incidents of domestic violence should contact us on 101, or 999 in an emergency, so we can take action and bring the offenders to justice.” / Ymosododd Dennis Ross yn ddifrifol ar ei ddioddefwr dros gyfnod maith yn ei gartref. Dros nifer o ddiwrnodau fe’i curodd ac fe’i tagodd hi gan ei gadael mewn coma gydag anafiadau peryglu bywyd. Aethpwyd â hi i’r ysbyty lle y bu’n anymwybodol am nifer o wythnosau. Heddiw ymddangosodd yn Llys y Goron Caerdydd lle cafodd ei ddedfrydu i garchar am oes. Ni fydd yn gymwys i wneud cais am barôl nes y bydd wedi bod yn y carchar am o leiaf saith mlynedd a 140 diwrnod. Dywedodd Ditectif Cwnstabl Elaine Newbury: “Rydym yn falch o’r ddedfryd a gyflwynwyd heddiw sy’n adlewyrchu difrifoldeb y drosedd. Gorfododd Ross i’w ddioddefwr fynd trwy ymosodiad parhaus a maith a arweiniodd at anafiadau corfforol sylweddol a difrifol, gan gael effaith ddwys ar les emosiynol y dioddefwr ar yr un pryd. Nid yw wedi dangos dim edifeirwch am hyn. Rwy’n gobeithio bod hyn cyfleu’r neges na fydd trais domestig yn cael ei oddef; rydym yn ystyried troseddau o’r natur hwn yn ddifrifol iawn. Dylai unrhyw un sydd am hysbysu am ddigwyddiadau trais domestig gysylltu â ni ar 101, neu 999 mewn argyfwng, er mwyn i ni allu cymryd camau gweithredu a dwyn y troseddwyr gerbron y llys.”
