On the whole, yes. Some tattoos which are offensive, garish, prominent or numerous may result in the rejection of your application. If you are concerned, please email a picture of your tattoo to our recruitment team at centralrecruitment@gwent.pnn.police.uk for advice.

Not necessarily. If you are actively working towards achieving your licence, we would still welcome an application from you. However, you must pass your test prior to an offer letter being issued.

Not necessarily. You could be posted anywhere within the Force area.

The initial classroom based training will take place at Vantage Point House, Ty Coch Way, Cwmbran.

Two years. During this time you'll continue to receive some classroom-based training and will be assessed in the workplace.

You'll be expected to work a rolling shift pattern, this is currently a 6 on 4 off pattern but subject to change. This includes mornings, afternoons and nights. Each shift is around nine to ten hours. It does take a while to get used to the hours and it is important to maintain your personal fitness to help you adjust.

Yes - once trained, you will patrol on your own on most shifts - this is referred to as being ‘single crewed’. However, you will also be part of a wider team and will have regular support from your Sergeant and colleagues
